Roberto De Zerbi has overseen 82 games as Albion manager.

Roberto De Zerbi believes it would be ‘amazing’ were Albion to qualify for European football again next season.

His team head to Burnley today tenth in the table and five points behind West Ham, who are seventh and in the last automatic place for European football.

But with seven games to go, including fixtures against three of their rivals for a European spot in Aston Villa, Chelsea and Newcastle, De Zerbi remains positive.

“It’s difficult to understand how many points we need, but we have to think game by game, starting from today,” he said. “We have the chance to reach Europe. It’s going to tough because there are a lot of strong teams.

De Zerbi's Burnley press conference

“But we have to believe first of all and we have to win. I would like to play next season again in Europe because this season we are paying a lot for the first experience of Europe, but the second one can be easier.

“You need to know what it is to play Thursday-Sunday, especially if you are playing away. But this was the first time for us and we learned a lot – everyone, the players, myself, the staff, the club, the fans.

“We want to repeat the experience [of Europe] and I think the players, staff and the club feel the same. You can imagine what we would feel if we did it – it would be amazing.

“I am focussed ton making our fans happy feel happy for another season and to reach Europe and play in the Europa League or Conference League, because I know this experience and in football it is crucial to have it. I am pushing for it.”
