Joe Kinnear's Albion career was cut short by a knee injury.

Best remembered for his time as a right-back for Tottenham Hotspur, where he amassed over 250 league and cup games and won FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup honours, Kinnear headed to the south coast in August 1975 after 12 years at White Hart Lane.

Signed to add experience to Peter Taylor’s side, the 28-year-old made just 18 appearances for the club, scoring one goal, as a knee injury – sustained at Gillingham in April 1976 – brought his career to a premature end.

The Republic of Ireland international, who won the last of his 26 caps while at the Goldstone Ground, later moved into management, most notably with top-flight Wimbledon, prior to spells at Luton Town, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

Everyone at the football club sends our condolences to Joe’s family and friends at this very sad time.
