Roberto De Zerbi gets his point across at Kenilworth Road.

Roberto De Zerbi says he still has total belief in his players despite Tuesday’s 4-0 defeat to Luton Town.

Elijah Adebayo’s hat-trick and a goal by Chiedozie Ogbene condemned under-par Albion to defeat as they never recovered from conceding two goals in the first three minutes – the first goals Luton have scored this season in the opening 15 minutes - as the hosts climbed out of the relegation zone.

De Zerbi said, “We have to remember this day because we can learn a lot. We are all responsible but I believe we can learn a lot. We didn't play. We lost the duels, we lost the second ball.

“Will we respond? I believe in my players. Today, more than other days. I believe in the people in my dressing room. We are suffering for this result, more than people can think. But we have to be able to start Thursday and forget today.”

James Milner had to go off after 20 minutes with a knock.

De Zerbi said Albion had to take collective responsibility for the defeat.

“We played badly, I think no one player played well," he added. "The substitutions were the same and when you play like this everyone has the responsibility.

“Luton played a great game, but we knew the difficulty of the game. I feel sorry for our fans and our club – we are responsible for this day, myself first of all but when you lose you can always learn, especially if the defeat is like today. But we have to remember we have good players and are a good team but to show our qualities we have to push every day."
