Loan round-up: Beadle through to third round with Oxford United

The U's will face Yasin Ayari's Coventry City in the next round.

James Beadle avoided any Emirates FA Cup upset as his Oxford United team made it into the third round with a win over Grimsby Town but Ed Turns and Leyton Orient exited the competition.

Jeremy Sarmiento played for 75 minutes in West Brom’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester City, as Foxes midfielder Harry Winks’s last minute strike sealed all three points for the Championship leaders.

At the other end of the second tier table, 18th place Swansea drew 1-1 with 21st place Huddersfield, with Carl Rushworth unable to keep his fifth league clean sheet for the Swans.

Coventry City were beaten by in-form Ipswich Town as Yasin Ayari played 45 minutes for the Sky Blues, while Andrew Moran’s impressive run of six goal involvements in four games came to an abrupt stop in Blackburn’s surprise 3-1 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Marc Leonard’s Northampton weren’t able to continue their three game winning run as they were thumped 3-0 at home by League One leaders Portsmouth, as Cam Peupion came on for the final few minutes of Cheltenham Town’s 2-1 defeat at Charlton Athletic.

James Beadle kept a clean sheet in Oxford United’s 2-0 win over Grimsby Town in the FA Cup, securing them a third round tie against Coventry after the young goalkeeper was named as the U's November Player of the Month before kick-off. Ed Turns’s Leyton Orient were on the end of an FA Cup shock though, as they lost 1-0 to National League Chesterfield.

Deniz Undav made it four goals in three Bundesliga outings for Stuttgart, as he found the back of the net in their 2-0 win over Werder Bremen.

Deniz Undav has scored nine goals for VFB Stuttgart, including one in their 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen at the weekend.

Abdallah Sima ended a four-game goalless streak in the league with both of Rangers’ goals in their 2-0 win over St Mirren.

Kjell Scherpen returned to the Sturm Graz team having been ill for their previous game – a 2-0 win over Lustenau – as they drew 1-1 with Blau Wiess Linz. They sit two points off top of the table RB Salzburg.

Steven Alzate's Standard Liege couldn’t follow up their win over Genk with another positive result, as they lost 2-0 away to Club Brugge.

Non-League

Bailey Smith came on for the final 15 minutes of Worthing’s 3-1 win over Chippenham Town, as Danny Cashman assisted two goals, while Glen Rea returned from injury.
