Loan round-up: Moran scores first league goal in English football

Andrew Moran capped off a great week with his first league goal in English football.

Albion had 13 players in action for their loan clubs over the weekend, with Andrew Moran enjoying a landmark moment in his career with Blackburn Rovers.

EFL

Moran scored the first English league goal of his career as Blackburn cruised to a 3-0 win at Stoke City in the Championship. That came in the same week the 20-year-old made his senior Republic of Ireland debut.

Jeremy Sarmiento came on for the final 20 minutes of West Brom’s 2-0 win over second place Ipswich Town, while Carl Rushworth’s 17th place Swansea played out a 2-2 draw with Hull City. Yasin Ayari was an unused substitute in Coventry City’s 3-0 win at Millwall.

James Beadle was on the end of a surprise 2-0 defeat to Cheltenham Town in League One, with Cam Peupion an unused substitute for the Robins.

Marc Leonard played his 17th consecutive full 90 minutes for Northampton Town as they made it back-to-back league wins, following up their 2-0 victory over Burton – in which Marc scored – with a 2-1 win over Cambridge United.

Ed Turns made his first league start for a month in Leyton Orient’s 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic, while Jensen Weir was an unused sub in Blackpool’s 4-0 win at Portsmouth.

INTERNATIONAL

Deniz Undav played a starring role on Saturday as Stuttgart maintained their terrific start to the Bundesliga campaign. The striker scored both of his team’s goals in their 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, tightening their grip on third spot. Deniz now has seven league goals to his name in nine appearances.

In the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, Steven Alzate’s Standard Liege bounced back from a 6-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp to beat KRC Genk 1-0, while in Scotland, Abdallah Sima played for 70 minutes in Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.

In the Netherlands, Kacper Kozlowski played for 64 minutes as Vitesse stayed bottom of the Eredivisie, as they were thumped 5-0 by Ajax.

In Scottish women's football, Libby Bance was named in Rangers's starting line-up on Sunday in their SWPL clash against Montrose at Broadwood Stadium. The Albion youngster played 58 minutes in their triumphant 7-0 victory ahead of the international break to maintain their top position in the table.

NON-LEAGUE

Bailey Smith was an unused substitute in Worthing’s 1-1 draw away at Taunton Town.
