Brighton and Hove Albion have partnered with Survivors' Network to highlight the support they provide to survivors of sexual assault and abuse on International Men’s Day.

The ongoing work of the Survivors' Network and male survivor charity partner 1in6, aims to engage men who may be suffering in silence.

The statistics show us that 1 in 18 adult men are affected by sexual abuse or assault and at least 1 in 6 men are affected by sexual violence over their lifetime, according to research by the charity 1in6.

Both these statistics are thought to be higher given the social stigma and barriers that men face when speaking up about their experiences of sexual abuse or assault.

A spokesperson from Survivors' Network said, "We want to invite men to start the conversation about sexual violence and consider how they can best support a friend, brother, partner, child or father who may be affected."

Albion chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said, “We feel it is important to highlight the work done by the Survivors’ Network across Brighton and Hove and beyond.

"They have and continue to provide invaluable support to thousands of men and women who’ve suffered life-changing sexual assaults.

"It is with the help of organisations like the Survivors’ Network many are able to break down barriers and make those important first steps.”
