Pauline Bremer was delighted to get off the mark for Albion on Sunday.

The striker scored her first goal for the club after sweeping home Katie Robinson's cross, before Sjoeke Nusken’s double, an own goal from Guro Bergsvand and a late strike from Aggie Beever-Jones put the Blues in control.

Substitute Elisabeth Terland pulled a goal back in the 90th minute but it was not enough to stop Albion slipping to a third consecutive Women's Super League defeat.

While Melissa Phillips' side were second-best at Kingsmeadow, Bremer said it was not all doom and gloom, especially as Chelsea are the defending WSL champions.

She said, "It is frustrating. We would have liked to have taken the points. We were in the game, especially in the first half and we made it really difficult for Chelsea. I think we can take a lot of positives but it is a disappointing result after going 1-0 up. Conceding just before half time was really, really hard.

"We tried everything, we fought until the end and the way they scored the goals were really unlucky. We need to improve and we need to get better in possession but there are still positives to take from the game.

"Chelsea are just a really good team and they have class players. They made a change to their system and we took a little bit too long to adapt to that. Two of their goals came from our mistakes, so we need to stop making these errors and be better in possession, while trying to create more chances ourselves. They are a tough opponent but we have to keep moving forward."

Phillips: We're still growing

Albion began the season with a 2-1 win over Everton but have now lost three straight games against West Ham, Tottenham, and Chelsea.

But Bremer pointed out the squad are still getting to know each other after 13 members of the squad left and 11 joined over the summer.

"Trusting the process is really important because we are a new team and we have only been together for a few weeks so we have to keep building these relationships together, keep progressing, watching the game back, analysing, and then going again."
