Elisabeth Terland is delighted after putting Albion ahead at the Amex.

Elisabeth Terland scored her fourth goal of the season but Albion went down 3-1 to Spurs in front of a record WSL attendance of 6951.

The Norwegian’s third league goal in as many games gave Albion an early breakthrough but goals either side of the break by Martha Thomas and a brilliant long-range strike by Grace Clinton turned it around for Spurs before Ria Percival added a third in stoppage time.

Albion made the ideal start by taking the lead after eight minutes when Terland met Maisie Symonds’ inswinging corner from the left with a glancing header at the near post which flew past Spurs’ keeper Becky Spence.

Spence had to save long-range strikes from Terland and Vicky Losada but the visitors began to get on top as the first half wore on.

There was a scare for Albion when Thomas got through on goal. Keeper Nicky Evrard blocked her shot and Charlie Rule had to clear in front of her own goal.

But just when it looked as if Albion had got to the break with the lead Tottenham levelled in stoppage time. Drew Spence’s 20-yard drive clattered off the bar to Thomas who showed great technique to volley the loose ball into the bottom corner.

Captain Vicky Losada breaks forward.

A triple change saw Geummin Lee, Emma Kullberg and Madison Haley come on at the break and a switch to five at the back.

Albion started the second half well. Haley tested Spence on 50 minutes with a header after Katie Robinson’s cross picked her out before the American got on the end of Vicky Losada’s corner but couldn’t keep her header on target.

Albion were on top but they were stunned on 65 minutes when Clinton let fly from 30 yards and the ball flew over Evrard and in off the underside of the bar.

Julia Zigiotti curled a right-foot shot from the corner of the box off target and Albion pushed forward in numbers late on but they were left vulnerable on the break and Percival's shot in the third minute of stoppage time took a deflection on its way past Evrard. Haley went close to a second for Albion but it wasn't to be.
