Loan report: Good weekend for Beadle and Rushworth

Here's how our players out on loan got on over the weekend.

James Beadle has helped Oxford United make a good start to their League One campaign.

Goalkeepers Carl Rushworth and James Beadle enjoyed excellent 3-0 wins for their teams over the weekend.

EFL

England Under-21 international Carl Rushworth kept a clean sheet in Swansea City’s first victory of the season, as they put three past Sheffield Wednesday without reply. The win moved the Swans out of the Championship relegation zone.

Yasin Ayari scored his first goal for Coventry City in Monday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town. The Sky Blues have only suffered two defeats in their opening eight league games.

Andrew Moran played the opening 45 minutes of Blackburn’s 4-3 defeat, while Jeremy Sarmiento made his first start for West Brom in their 0-0 draw with Millwall.

In League One, James Beadle’s Oxford United made it six wins from eight with a 3-0 win over Exeter City and was the 19-year-old’s third clean sheet of the league season.

Cheltenham broke an EFL record of failing to score in their opening nine league games of the season as they lost 3-0 to Stevenage, with Cam Peupion coming on for the final 20 minutes of that one for the Robins.

Marc Leonard’s Northampton Town made it three consecutive League One defeats as they were beaten 2-1 at home by Barnsley. The Scotsman hasn’t missed a minute of action for the Cobblers in their opening eight league games.

Blackpool made it two wins from three with a thumping 4-1 victory over Reading. Jensen Weir came on at the start of the second half for the Tangerines, teeing up Jordan Rhodes for Blackpool’s fourth and the veteran striker’s hat-trick.

International

Deniz Undav came on for the final ten minutes of Stuttgart’s 3-1 win over Darmstadt, while Abdallah Sima was also a second-half substitute for Rangers in their 1-0 win over Motherwell.

Sturm Graz continued their unbeaten start to the league campaign with a 1-1 draw with Rapid Vienna – with Kjell Scherpen starting in goal in that game, as well as their 2-1 home defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Thursday.

Kacper Kozlowski played an hour for Vitesse Arnhem in their 1-0 away defeat to Sparta Rotterdam. It was Vitesse’s fourth consecutive defeat as they slipped down to 15th in the Eredivisie.

Non-League

Bailey Smith was an unused substitute in Worthing’s 4-0 defeat to Maidstone United in National League South.
