Vicky Losada joined Albion in the summer.

Vicky Losada has been named Albion Women’s club captain for the 2023/24 season.

The Spanish midfielder joined the club in the summer when she became Melissa Phillips’s second signing of the transfer window.

Vicky brings a wealth of experience, having won the Champions League in 2021 with Barcelona alongside multiple domestic honours.

The 32-year-old has also been named one of Brighton and Hove Albion’s Foundation community ambassadors alongside Pauline Bremer, Joel Veltmen and Karou Mitoma.

Guro Bergsvand and Pauline Bremer will be Albion's vice captains.

Vicky admitted she was surprised to be handed the armband. "I am one of the new signings so I wasn’t expecting it but it is an honor to lead the team to help achieve our goals, represent the values of the club and to make our fans proud," she said.

Vicky is one of four ambassadors in the Foundation this season.

"I came here to bring my experience and be part of this new project. It’s going be a long journey and we have to believe in the process and work day by day knowing where we are and where we want to get too.

"I’ve been part of very successful teams and players with a similar project as the one at Brighton now. It’s important we focus on being the best version of ourselves every day to keep growing, play football with personality, stay humble and never forget why we do what we do.

"We also need to create a competitive environment and winning mentality. I am the captain but there are so many great personalities in the squad who can lead this team and it’s important players take responsibility because it’s not going be an easy season and we all need to push each other to become the team we want to be."

Vicky says she is looking forward to her role with the Foundation.

She added, "I’ve been part of the foundation of other clubs and I know how important the role of the players in making this world better and learning and sharing experiences with every person that will be involved."
