We are pleased to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Nicky Evrard on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Women’s first team head coach Melissa Phillips said, “Nicky is a fantastic addition to the squad.

“She has been a standout performer at club level in Belgium, as well as on the international stage at last year's Euros.

“We’re excited to work with her and give her the opportunity to test herself in the WSL.”

The 28-year-old was awarded the Belgian Golden Boot in January, which is given to the best female player and became the first goalkeeper to scoop the award.

Nicky came through the ranks at Racing Strijpen and SK Munkzwalm, before joining KAA Gent in 2012.

She spent five years there before moving to FC Twente in the Netherlands and then Sporting de Huelva in Spain.

The keeper returned to Gent in 2020, then joined OH Leuven in July last year. She signed for Chelsea in July on a three-year deal.

Evrard has made 63 appearances for Belgium, helping her country reach the quarter-finals of the Euros in 2022.
