Pascal Gross has been called into the Germany squad for the first time.
Albion’s inspirational midfielder, who joined the club in 2017 and has made 195 Premier League appearances, has been named by coach Hansi Flick for two friendlies next month as hosts Germany continue their preparations for next year’s European Championships.
He could face Albion teammate Kaoru Mitoma when Germany play Japan in Wolfsburg on 9 September before facing France in Dortmund three days later.
The 32-year-old became Albion’s leading Premier League goalscorer when he netted his 27th top-flight goal in last Saturday’s game against West Ham United.
