Kaoru Mitoma surges through the Wolves defence before scoring in last Saturday's 4-1 win.

Roberto De Zerbi says Albion are ‘lucky’ to have the brilliant Kaoru Mitoma at the club.

The Japanese star scored a wonder goal in the 4-1 win at Wolves last week which put Albion top of the Premier League ahead of tomorrow’s Amex tussle with West Ham United.

Mitoma, 26, has had a sensational impact on the league in the last 12 months with eight goals and seven assists in 35 appearances – and there is no bigger fan than his coach.

“I don’t know if he is the best, but he is one of the best for sure,” said De Zerbi.

“We are lucky to play with Mitoma. He can show his quality with us because every player of Brighton can give the right ball to put him in the right conditions to show his quality – the one-v-one is his quality.

“Before that though you have to put him in the right condition to get into those positions and we are doing that.”
