Megan Connolly believes Albion can take some positives despite defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.

After a challenging run of matches in recent weeks, Albion fell to another heavy loss with a 4-0 defeat against WSL leaders Manchester United on Saturday.

But after reflecting on the 90 minutes, midfielder Megan Connolly insists the squad will bounce back.

She said, "We gave it our best shot, we were in it in the first half and they capitalised on one or two mistakes. They're top of the table for a reason, they had a bit of quality to get those goals but we can be proud of what we did for long parts of the game.

"We play them again in two weeks [FA Cup semi-final] which is a big game for us, so we need to learn and reflect."

Connolly: We'll learn from Man United defeat

It's been a tough run of games for Merricks' side in recent weeks and they have only picking up one point in their last four, but the versatile midfielder believes that the squad must keep taking risks as they head towards the FA Cup semi-final against United on 15 April in their next fixture.

She added, "We're pushing to score goals, get points and climb the table - against teams like United we need to take a risk but we have to keep pushing.

"It's tough, but we know the qualities that we have and we know what we can do, we just need to implement that on the pitch. We've played some big teams recently and we have to stick together and train hard but it will come.

"We had a lot of spirit and fight in the first half on Saturday, we have to bring that in future games."
