Brighton will face Manchester United in semi-final of FA Cup

Following yesterday's draw Albion will face Manchester United away from home in the semi-finals of the Vitality Women's FA Cup on Sunday 16 April.

Interim head coach Amy Merricks says there is a strong desire in the squad to reach the final for the first time in the club's history.

She said, "We're really excited to be through to the semi final. We play Manchester United in the league as well next Saturday (1 April)  so we'll have that experience of playing them twice already this season.

"We want to take this club as far as we can in the tournament. It's all about momentum for us at the moment, we've had some positive performances and the cup gives us a great opportunity to express ourselves.

"For the club to have both the men and women's first team in the FA Cup semi final is brilliant and it'll be great if we can make history and reach our first final.

"Manchester United had a great season so far and the job that [head coach] Marc [Skinner] has done is very impressive. We want to be competitive and get through to the final, that's what we'll focus on."
