Roberto De Zerbi consoles Alexis Mac Allister after the 2-2 draw at Leeds.

Roberto De Zerbi reflected further on Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United, which lifted Albion up to seventh with Crystal Palace visiting the Amex on Wednesday.

On two points dropped…

We had the opportunity to close the game at 2-1 and in that part of the game perhaps we lost the two points. This year I never suffered a result like it, it was one of the most disappointing results, like Fulham where we lost three points. Against [Crystal] Palace away we deserved to win but not like Saturday. I was really sorry for it [the result].

De Zerbi rues missed chances

On Alexis’s role further forward…

He played very well, but because he is Alexis Mac Allister he can do even better! But that higher position is maybe the best for him, and we have also discovered Pascal Gross in the midfield position behind him gives us good balance.

Of course, Alexis should be scoring more goals because he has the quality, but I’m also speaking about shots, and to make more assists.

Solly March for England…?

I can give my opinion and I hope Solly goes in the national team [the squad is announced on Thursday] but it’s not my job and I respect the [England] coach. He deserves to go but Lewis Dunk does too. As for Solly, he is a complete player. He can improve in his goals but I’m happy with Solly’s performances.
