International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, cultural, political and economic achievements of women.

Albion players, coaches and staff have once again come together on International Women’s Day to show their support for this year’s theme to #EmbraceEquity.

International Women's Day is a global celebration of the social, cultural, political and economic achievements of women and this year focuses on making sure equity isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a must-have.

It also focuses on how gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA and driving a worldwide understanding on why equal opportunities aren’t enough.

Deputy head of people & culture Darren Kerrigan said, "The club continue to be committed to helping women achieve their full potential throughout their career.

"We have developed an equality action plan and have attained the intermediate level of the Premier League’s Equality Standard, which has enabled us to put in place measurable steps to further demonstrate the club’s commitment to equality and diversity.

"The club has further improved its gender balance at executive team level following the appointment of Zoe Johnson, managing director of women’s and girls’ football and will continue to focus on diversification at all levels."

The club have held a number of activities throughout the week to recognise the importance of coming together to celebrate International Women’s Day and show our support to #EmbraceEquity theme.

Activities have included a breakfast for staff members to celebrate IWD and to learn about the Women's Equality Network which has just been set up at the club.

Additionally, the club held a mixed IWD Cup tournament with the our WU12/13 and MU11/12 squads.
