Loan roundup: Alzate scores as Liege beat Saint-Gilloise

There were plenty of Albion players in action over the weekend for their loan clubs.

Steven Alzate scored for Standard Liege on Saturday as they beat Simon Adingra’s Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

The Colombia international put Liege 2-1 up after 25 minutes, but Union were back on level terms after 66 minutes through Victor Boniface after being set up by Adingra.

William Balikwisha and Aron Donnum struck late on though to secure a 4-2 win for Standard.

Staying on the continent, Andi Zeqiri made it two goals in his last two appearances as he put Basel 2-1 up, but the Swiss side had to settle for a draw after conceding a 96th minute equaliser to Servette.

Kjell Scherpen conceded twice as Vitesse Arnhem lost to FC Voldendam, while Abdallah Sima played the full 90 minutes for Angers in Ligue 1 in a 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg.

In Scotland, James Furlong helped Motherwell make it back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory over Hearts, while Lorent Tolaj played for the final ten minutes for Dundee in their 1-0 defeat to Greenock Morton.

In the EFL, Aaron Connolly will be out for a month with a toe injury for Hull City, while Reda Khadra missed Birmingham City’s defeat to Huddersfield on Saturday, but could be fit in time for next weekend's game at Luton Town.

Carl Rushworth kept a clean sheet for Lincoln at the weekend.

Carl Rushworth kept a clean sheet for Lincoln City in a 0-0 draw with Portsmouth, while Haydon Roberts came on as a substitute for Derby in the Rams’ 2-0 win over Charlton.

Jensen Weir – who is Morecambe’s top scorer with eight goals this season – couldn’t stop his team slipping to a 3-0 home defeat to Peterborough who made it five wins from their last eight league matches.

Marc Leonard played the full game as Northampton Town were beaten by Grimsby, while Jack Spong made his Crawley debut, coming on as a late substitute in their 1-0 defeat to league leaders Leyton Orient.

Starting at centre back for Orient, Ed Turns helped his team to their fourth win in five, as well as their fourth clean sheet in the seven games he has started.
