Kaoru Mitoma glances in Jeremy Sarmiento's cross to ensure Albion come away with all three points against Bournemouth.

Kaoru Mitoma is trying to harness the extra scrutiny he finds himself under to his advantage.

The 25-year-old has scored four goals in his last five Premier League games, including Saturday’s winner over Bournemouth.

“I'm trying to score goals in every match, then you can ride on the momentum," he said. "I don't mind, but it's true that people look at me [to deliver] and in a way I'm enjoying that pressure.

“Right now I hope I can score a goal or make an assist every match and it is going well."

Mitoma's surprise after scoring another header!

Mitoma has set high standards in recent weeks and admits he didn't reach his usual levels against Bournemouth - until he headed Albion's late winner.

“I was not happy with my performance against Bournemouth and felt it would be terrible if I ended the game in that way [without a goal].

“I was frustrated as I could have done more as the time was going on. It was good I was able score, as it would have been a pity if the game had ended in a draw. I have to learn a lesson.”

The fanfare around Kaoru continues to grow both here and in Japan, where news of his winner against Liverpool in the Emirates FA Cup attracted a huge amount of attention.

“I know it became quite big news in Japan and I could feel that. It's also because it was in the dying minute and we had great joy. Anyway I'm happy that people pay more attention to me.”

PL Highlights: Albion 1 Bournemouth 0

We’ve now enjoyed four wins from our six games since Premier League action returned after the World Cup.

That vein of form reminds Mitoma of his time in Japan.

“With Kawasaki Frontale, we were always winning matches. Now I'm playing with a similar mentality. We don't concede goals and that allows us to try to win the match until the end.

“We played with patience [against Bournemouth], but I felt again that we should push on more against a defensive team. I think we have to improve that quality of our game.”
