Ahead of the game, head coach Jens Scheuer said, “We are all disappointed after Leicester, it wasn’t the result we wanted. We created some good chances to score and took the wrong decision sometimes which can happen.
"We have analysed what we can to do better but it was important for me to see the girls in a WSL game so I can be clear in the messages I give to them in the future. It will be interesting to see how we react on Wednesday.”
Form Guide
Albion lost their first match since December 4 when the WSL resumed on Sunday, going down 3-0 to Leicester City at the King Power Stadium. Our last WSL win was against the Hammers in November when we won 5-4 thanks to goals from Danielle Carter (2), Elisabeth Terland, Vea Sarri and Jorja Fox.
West Ham are currently sixth in the table with five wins from their 11 games. Their first game after the break on Sunday ended with a narrow 1-0 loss at home to Manchester City.
Previous meetings
West Ham are the only side Albion did the WSL double over last season, winning both games 2-0. In the away fixture in March, goals from Aileen Whelan and Inessa Kaagman did the trick while Kaagman and Geummin Lee scored in the victory at the Amex on the opening day of the season.
However, West Ham did win 3-0 in a League Cup tie in December 2021 at Dagenham, when Albion had already been knocked out of the competition.
Player to Watch
Iceland international Dagný Brynjarsdóttir made her 50th appearance for the Hammers in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City. The 31-year-old midfielder, who is also West Ham’s captain, joined them in 2021.
She studied at Florida State University and then played more than 100 games for Icelandic clubs KFR. Valur and Selfoss. She has also had spells with Bayern Munich and NWSL outfit Portland Thorns.
