Stefanovic: I have a winner's mentality

The Serbian midfielder has put pen to paper with the club until the summer of 2024.

Stefanovic is eager to add her creative flair.

In an exclusive first interview with Dejana, the Albion midfielder shared her excitement to sign for the club during the January transfer window.

Stefanovic has joined from Valerenga in the Norwegian Toppserien after three seasons there, and is delighted to get started on the south coast with her new teammates.

She said, “It feels amazing, it’s nice to finally be here and be part of the club.

“When I left the car after I arrived and came inside I had a feeling in my stomach, and I was very proud of myself."

Meet Dejana Stefanovic!

The defender admitted that Brighton was the only club she had her eyes set on in this transfer window, and is motivated to make her mark in the WSL.

She added, “As soon as I heard Brighton I told my agent don’t tell me anything else, I just wanted Brighton to work.

"It’s amazing to be part of the league and be here, I’m so proud. I’m really excited and looking forward to seeing how much I can give and develop.

"The league is very good and well known. It motivates me a lot. I can show how much I can handle the pressure."

Stefanovic is eager to add her creative flair.

This is Stefanovic's first time in the WSL, and she expressed her eagerness to add her creative flair within the squad.

She added, "I would say that I am very creative, I like to show toughness and passion on the pitch.

"I have a winner’s mentality – you can see how much it means to me when we win, I’m very passionate.

The versatile midfielder is excited to work under new women's head coach, Jens Scheuer, and emphasised that the squad are motivated to put in solid performances in the second half of the season. 

“I had teammates in my national team who played for him, I only heard good things about him – I’m very excited!

“I heard he likes to win, so we’re on the same page.

“We want to make better results from now, I believe that with everything we have we can make a good atmosphere and team spirit that can get us the results..

“I want to help make us one of the top teams in the league, that’s my goal."
