Guro Bergsvand has signed a two-and-a-half year contract.

In an exclusive first interview with Guro, the versatile defender shared her excitement to sign for the club during the January transfer window.

Bergsvand has joined Albion from SK Brann Kvinner in the Norweigan Toppserien and is delighted to get started.

She said, “It feels amazing! I’m really excited to be here and I'm looking forward to getting started and to get out there with the girls. I’ve been playing in Norway for quite some time and in the last couple of years I feel that I’m finally at the level I need to be to take the next step.

“I feel Brighton is the right move and that I can contribute with my defensive qualities. I feel that it’s a good fit.”

This is the defender's first time in the WSL, and she emphasised her eagerness to embrace the challenge of a new environment.

Guro was part of Norway's squad at last summer's European Championships.

She added, “I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve watched a lot of the games and this is a really exciting league with a lot of good players. I’m looking forward to seeing how I will manage playing against such good players.

“I’m really excited about the challenge. I’m curious to see how well I’ll adapt to the level and speed of the game here. I’m hoping to help the team to win more games, hopefully take steps as a team. The top four is the dream and the vision of the club so I want to help usget there.”

Bergsvand is pleased to link up with with her fellow Norwegian Elisabeth Terland and said it was one of the things that led her to sign for the club.

She added, “I’ve missed her, it’s been six months since I last played with her in Norway. I really enjoyed playing with Elisabeth and I’m really excited to get to do that again.

“She's settled down well here and has said positive things about the club. She kept highlighting how professional it is, the facilities at the training ground, the level of the players and how it’s a step up from the Toppserien. I think it’s a good step for me to take."
