Amy Merricks's Man City Press Conference

Amy Merricks said, “Manchester City will be a challenge, they are a good side who move the ball really well. First and foremost, we need to be hard to beat but if we apply ourselves, know that we have a threat and impose ourselves on the game when we can then we will give ourselves the best chance.

“They obviously have individuals with great experience and we’ll set up in relation to that while playing to our own strengths.”

WSL: Man City 0 Albion 0

Albion have a poor record against City, losing six of the seven previous meetings and conceding 20 in the last three of them including a 7-2 loss in April on our last visit to the Academy Stadium. But Albion have picked up a point there before, from a 0-0 draw during the 2020-21 campaign.

Form guide

Since losing 2-0 to Chelsea at the end of September, City have won their last seven games in all competitions. In their most recent WSL fixture a fortnight ago they won 2-1 at Everton thanks to goals from Julie Blakstad and Khadija Shaw.

Player to watch

Striker Khadija Shaw is in a rich vein of goalscoring form with six in her last six games, including a goal in each of her last four appearances. The 25-year-old Jamaica international has eight in seven WSL matches this season.

Stats and facts

Manchester City have won 26 of their last 27 Barclays WSL home games against non-London sides, scoring 84 goals and conceding just eight in that run. The only exception was a 0-0 draw against Albion in September 2020.

No players have made more ball carries ending in a chance created in the Barclays WSL this season than Man City's Chloe Kelly or Albion’s Katie Robinson (9 each).

Brighton have used fewer different players than any other Barclays WSL side this season (17), while only Aston Villa (1) have made fewer starting XI changes than Brighton (6).

No side have scored more second half-goals in the Barclays WSL this season than Man City (12).

As well as being involved in more Barclays WSL goals than any other player this season (10 – 8 goals, 2 assists), Man City's Khadija Shaw has the best minutes-per-goal ration of anyone to score more than once this term (one every 73 minutes).

Manchester City have won their last eight Barclays WSL home games by an aggregate score of 30-3.
