Roberto De Zerbi's team take on Aston Villa in their final game before the World Cup.

Roberto De Zerbi says if Albion are to dream of finishing high up the Premier League table then they need to work hard.

The Italian says that he, like everyone associated with Albion, wants to see us end up in the European spots, but that it’s important to focus on the day-to-day.

“The supporters have to dream, the players, the coach and the club also,” he explained.

“But we have another thing to do – we have to work. I like how our fans would feel if we arrived at the end of the season in sixth, or fifth or in fourth. But we have to work day by day.

Roberto De Zerbi’s Aston Villa press conference

“You can lose but if you work with the right mentality in the right way you can do it. I’m telling my coaching staff that what matters is that we are working harder and giving everything.

“Then, of course we need to set the target high and without being ashamed of that.”

Albion’s success this season will depend heavily on how closely the team work to Roberto’s idea of how to play, but at the moment he is content with his players’ efforts.

“I think I have already given the players some new ideas. And they really are able to play with that new idea. But I have to repeat I don't want change too many things because they are very good players and they like me.”
