Adam Lallana grabbed a goal and an assist against Wolves.

Adam Lallana says he’s been 'blown away' by how Roberto De Zerbi wants his Albion team to play.

Lallana was on target in Saturday's 3-2 win at Wolves which gave Albion back-to-back Premier League wins after they had failed to win any of their first five under their new head coach.

“I’ve had great experiences under all the mangers I’ve worked with, then Roberto entered the building and I’ve been blown away by his ideas and how he sees the game,” said Lallana.

“It’s another string to my bow in terms of experience. It’s incredible at 34 to think that there is still so much I can learn about the game.”

The midfielder admits Albion ‘suffered’ during the transition period following the Italian’s arrival.

“It was a tough first three or four weeks, we didn’t win in five games. It did take time to get buy-in from every player because there are players that were used to doing things differently under Graham Potter and getting a lot of success that way.

“It was a difficult start for him, inheriting a group that was doing so well in the Premier League. It took a bit of time for the lads to feel comfortable because there was change, and as players we don’t always like change.

“But we’ve had a few weeks and we’re seeing the work he’s been doing and the way he wants to play. I was extremely made up for him that we have got back-to-back wins because it took some of the pressure off.

“It took a little bit of time, but he’s got the lads wanting to play for him. We all believe in his ideas, he’s our leader now and we want to follow him.”

Lallana offered some insight into how De Zerbi structures training sessions and how they want the team to evolve on the pitch.

“He's very tactical on the training pitch, there’s lots of work on phases of play, deep build-up and mid build-up and the attacking third. It’s very structured and you’ve got to be very disciplined in where he wants you on the pitch. It’s nothing that I’ve experienced before in my career, he’s very hands-on. He's completely football-mad and very passionate and he has a lot of warmth and charisma.”

Sixth-placed Albion head to the Emirates to face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday before facing Aston Villa at the Amex on Sunday in their final match. They then have the six-week World Cup break, and Lallana believes the team can ‘achieve something good this season.’

“The beauty of playing for Brighton is there is probably a bit less expectation than being at a so-called top four clubs, even though there are probably six or seven of those. So, we can just go about our business quietly and that helps takes the pressure off. We can be underdogs most weeks in our minds.

“But I have been in some successful dressing rooms with top quality players, and I can say that we have got some very good players that play very good football. I’m not naïve to the fact that we can achieve something good this season. What that is I don’t know, I’ll let others speculate on that!”
