Albion celebrate Andrew Moran's opening goal against Blackburn.

Luca Barrington scored in his third consecutive Premier League 2 game as Albion secured a  hard earned three points at Blackburn on Sunday.

Andrew Moran had given Albion an early lead before Bradley Dack was shown a straight red card just before the half-time whistle.

Barrington continued his fine run in front of goal midway through the second half before Georgie Gent pulled one back from the penalty spot late on.

Cam Peupion had forced Rovers keeper Jordan Eastham into a decent early save as the stopper got a fist to the Australian’s header, but he could do little about Moran’s effort 12 minutes in.

Luca Barrington scored and assisted in the victory.

Barrington, starting in behind Evan Ferguson, cut in from the right and sent in an in-swinging cross, which Moran dived to meet with his head and Eastham could do little about it as it hit the back of the net.

The Irishman should have had a second just three minutes later when Ferguson sent him through on goal, but his dinked effort was well saved by Eastham in the one-on-one.

The Rovers keeper was busy and had to be alert to Casper Nilsson’s thumped strike from an acute angle before James Beadle tipped Jake Garrett’s long-range effort over, but it was one way traffic for Albion as Ferguson’s shot from the edge of the box was blocked.

The scales were further tipped in Albion’s favour when Dack was shown a straight red card just before half-time for an off the ball incident.

Evan Ferguson has an effort blocked in the first half.

Jack Hinshelwood had the ball in the back of the net ten minutes after the restart as he managed to get in front of his marker to poke home from Peupion’s ball in, but the flag went up for offside.

Albion would get their second goal though as Furlong’s cross was stabbed home from six-yards by Barrington – the former Manchester City man’s third goal in as many Premier League 2 games.

Blackburn found a lifeline late on as Sam Packham slid in on Gent, leaving the referee with little choice but to point to the spot.

Gent made no mistake from 12 yards finding the bottom right corner with five minutes to play.

That gave the hosts the impetus to push for an equaliser, as Harrison Wood's deflected strike nearly looped over Beadle, but the Albion keeper tipped it over.

Albion saw out the result to secure the three points and a fifth consecutive Premier League 2 game without defeat.

Albion: Beadle, Packham, Tsoungui, Furlong (Ifill (77), Nilsson, Hinshelwood, Chouchane, Peupion, Barrington (Baker-Boaitey), Moran (Miller 46), Ferguson (Samuels 60).
