Adam Webster brings the ball forward against Chelsea.

Adam Webster believes the atmosphere created by our fans against Chelsea was among the best he’s experienced at the Amex.

There have been some standout occasions during the Premier League era, including May’s memorable 4-0 win over Manchester United, but the defender says Saturday was just as good.

“It is right up there for me and to see the fans bouncing around at the end was unbelievable,” he said. “If we can have that sort of atmosphere at future games it will make such a difference. They made it a horrible place for an away team to come, and as cliched as it sounds they were our 12th man. They definitely helped push us on.”

Webster says there was a sense of relief in the squad after the 4-1 victory, Roberto De Zerbi’s first in charge since he took over in mid-September.

“We’ve played well since the new gaffer came in, especially last week at Manchester City when we took a lot of confidence from our performance.

“We had to build on that so Saturday became a massive game for us. We started well and got a bit of the luck that has been missing perhaps in the last few weeks with the deflections for the own goals. We dug in in the second half and at 3-1 we managed the game really well, which we had to do.”

There is just one more home game before the World Cup break with Albion facing trips to Wolves and Arsenal, in the Carabao Cup, before welcoming Aston Villa on November 13. “We’ve lost once at home in seven months and if we can keep up that we can have a really good season,” added Webster.
