Roberto De Zerbi described Albion’s performance against Spurs as ‘fantastic’ and felt that they deserved something from the game.
De Zerbi’s first Amex match ended in a 1-0 loss to Spurs, only our fourth defeat since the end of March.
After Harry Kane’s first-half goal - his fourth in five games at the Amex - had settled the outcome, De Zerbi said, “We have played a fantastic game and the result is 100% not fair.
“But football is not fair sometimes and I have lost other games like this as a coach.”

De Zerbi admitted it took time for Albion to adjust to Spurs’ 3-5-2 formation and when they did the visitors had scored the only goal.
“I made a mistake because I expected [Spurs head coach] Antonio [Conte] to play 3-4-2-1 then he changed to 3-5-2 but after the first 15 minutes it was only Brighton.
“The players were fantastic today, I congratulated them because it was a good performance without a goal we deserved.
“Now our thoughts are only on Monday to start again and to work for the next game against Brentford.”
