Vea Sarri has started both of Albion's WSL goals so far this campaign.

Vea Sarri is looking forward to seeing old faces on Sunday afternoon as Albion take on her former club Birmingham City in the Continental League Cup.

The Greece international spent two seasons with the Blues, before they were relegated from the WSL last season.

“We had a tough season, we struggled to get points,” Sarri admitted. “It can go either way – you stick together or you don’t, and we came together as a group. That season we bonded really well, we were really close.

Against Reading I thought I did okay, but there’s a lot more to come from me and I am looking forward to showing that.

“It feels like I was there yesterday so I am looking forward to seeing some of my old teammates, we got on well. I’ve only got good memories of Birmingham. It will be good to go back, albeit in a different shirt. But we want to do well in this competition, we will be ready.”

The 24-year-old has shown flashes of her game in our first two matches of the season, but says there’s still plenty to come.

“Things are going well, It’s only two games so far though. The Arsenal game wasn’t one that you can really rate yourself fairly because we went down to ten players so early. I am a player who expresses themselves on the ball and I didn’t have the chance to do that.

WSL Highlights: Albion 2 Reading 1

“Against Reading I thought I did okay, but there’s a lot more to come from me and I am looking forward to showing that.”

Albion created a number of opportunities against the Royals, with the focus now on being more prolific in front of goal.

“When you create chances you’re going to get goals. The next step is to finish those chances and that’s what we’re working on, hopefully we can show that in the next few performances.”
