Kayleigh Green joined Albion in 2018 from Yeovil Town.

Kayleigh Green reckons we’ve added real creativity to our ranks ahead of the opening game of the WSL season against Arsenal on Friday.

The Wales international admits that there aren’t many tougher games than the Gunners away, but wants to see the hard work the team and her have put in during pre-season come to the fore.

“I am looking forward to the game, we were looking forward to the game at the Amex [against Aston Villa last Sunday], but everyone completely understands the circumstances around it being postponed.

“Any game in the WSL is a difficult game, but for an opening game it’s going to test us as a squad, it’s going to push us to our limits, but we’ve been working incredibly hard this pre-season to be ready. We will be well prepared.”

Albion recruited the likes Yeni Park, Vea Sarri and Elisabeth Terland to add creativity in forward positions, with Kayleigh pleased with the new arrivals.

Hope Powell's team take on Arsenal this Friday.

“We’ve brought a lot of creative players and I think we needed that. The last five years we’ve built a really strong foundation on defending solidly, but creativity is something that we’ve maybe not had as much of as we do now.

“We’re hoping they can adapt to this league and this team quickly – it’s very different when you’re in training and you’re playing against each other.

“There’s a lot of young players making the step up and they bring a good amount of fresh energy. We have the experience in the group as well to help them develop.

“Katie Robinson is almost like a new player as well having got good experience out on loan with Charlton last season and returned to full fitness after her knee injury.”
