Skipper Victoria Williams believes our summer signings can bring a new dimension to this season’s WSL campaign.

We have brought in six new players – Poppy Pattinson, Veatriki Sarri, Elisabeth Terland, Rebekah Stott, Park Ye-eun and Jorja Fox – and there is the option of making further additions before the transfer deadline closes at 5pm on Thursday.

Albion kick off their fifth season in the Barclays Women’s Super League against Aston Villa at the Amex on Sunday, with a record crowd for a home game almost certain with more than 4,000 tickets already sold.

“It’s quite exciting,” said the 32-year-old, who is beginning her fifth season with the club. “We’ve got a new-look squad and I think they have added a freshness to the group. Pre-season has been busy with the training camp in Germany and then quite a few friendlies but we’re looking forward to Sunday, especially with it being at the Amex.

Elisabeth Terland joined Albion earlier on in the transfer window from Norwegian side Brann.

“We’ve enjoyed our pre-season and we’re excited now to get the season started.”

As well as anticipating that the new players will make an impact, Williams feels they are helping the rest of the squad play even better.

“They have made the players we’ve got come alive. For instance Geummin Lee has always been known for her link-up play but this pre-season she has gone to another level and I think she has the potential to have a really big season for us.

“She’s also got another player from South Korea here in Yemi and that has definitely helped, she looks more settled and I’m really excited about what they can achieve this season.”
