Graham Potter was pleased to progress and score three goals in the Carabao Cup.

Graham Potter said it had been a 'good night' for Albion after they progressed into the third round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win over Forest Green Rovers.

Goals from Deniz Undav, Steven Alzate and Evan Ferguson saw off the challenge of the League One club in front of 1200 travelling fans at The Bolt New Lawn.

Potter said, “I thought we played well in the first half and scored two good goals and had control. To give Forest Green credit, they put us under pressure and we had to suffer a little bit in the second half so it was nice to go through and keep a clean sheet, it was a tough match.

“There were a lot of guys who haven’t played much football, we gave opportunities to young players and you saw that a little bit in the second half.

Evan Ferguson celebrates after scoring Albion's third goal.

"We perhaps didn’t do as well in the second half but you have to give the opponent credit. We stuck at it and we went about the game in the right way."

By full-time Albion had used eight Academy players with Cam Peupion, Jack Hinchy and James Furlong coming on to make their first-team debuts and Ferguson got his first senior goal in stoppage time.

"The youngsters were ready to help us and it was good to give them opportunities and a proud moment for those who made their debuts. They applied themselves really well and we learned a lot about them.

"There were a lot of positives, which is easy to say when you win 3-0. We're pleased to go through."
