Jorja Fox is looking forward to improving her defensive work under Hope Powell.

Jorja Fox is confident that the environment at Albion will help her be ‘the best version of myself’ during her loan spell with the club.

The defender, who is 19 on Sunday, has joined us on a season-long loan from Chelsea after signing a new contract with the WSL champions.

Fox made her WSL debut at the age of 17 and spent part of last season on loan with Championship club Charlton Athletic, where her team-mates included Albion midfielder Katie Robinson.

“I’m really excited. Brighton is a great club with big ambitions,” she said. “I want to be playing in the WSL regularly as part of my development so that’s my goal personally. Team-wise we want to finish as high as we can.

“This is going to be a great experience. We’ve got some good players and that and the training facilities, which I didn’t expect to be as good as they are, can help me be the best version of myself.”

Although Fox likes to get forward to support the attacking players, first and foremost her priority is helping to keep clean sheets. The influence of manager Hope Powell will help, she believes.

“I love to join in the attack, but I pride myself in my one v one  defending. Hope is a great defensive coach who I think will make me a better defender.”

Albion kick off their WSL campaign at the Amex against Aston Villa on Sunday September 11, kick off 2pm. A fortnight later they host Reading. To book your tickets click here.
