Evan Ferguson scored in Albion's 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace in our last under-21 match.

Evan Ferguson says the men’s under-21s know what they have to put right after Monday’s defeat to Crystal Palace, as they prepare to face Liverpool on Sunday.

The striker scored in the 3-2 loss, but says he and his teammates are in good spirits ahead of Sunday’s 3pm kick-off at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.

“Everyone is in a good mood going into this game. We obviously had the defeat on Monday against Crystal Palace, but we know what we have to do going forward and we want to get back on track.

“Crofty is good with us. I get along with him, he knows how to get the best out of me and the best from his players.”

The striker is happy to be involved with the under-21s.

The 17-year-old is pleased to be involved with the under-21s, as he gets to use what he’s learned during his time with the first team in Premier League 2 games.

“I have improved a lot from getting the first team exposure, everything quickens you up. It’s a weird situation, because I came here at 16 and was in with the under-23s, but now I am technically a second-year under-18. I have had two seasons of playing up age groups, so even when I am dropping down from the first team to the under-21s, I am still playing above my age group.

“Playing with the under-21s ensures I get game time, I need to get that to be at my sharpest. Towards the end of last season I was involved in first team training a lot, but I wasn’t playing a lot of games.

“It doesn’t bother me at all going from the first team to the under-21s, I just want to play games and score goals. I want to get a run of games to show what I can do.”
