Albion opened their Premier League campaign with a 2-1 win over Manchester United.

Graham Potter’s team will look to make it back-to-back Premier League victories this Saturday when they take on Newcastle United at the Amex.

Our first league home game of the campaign will give us the chance to build on the stunning 2-1 win at Old Trafford last Sunday.

Including the 2021/22 campaign, Albion have lost only one of their last ten Premier League outings – a 3-0 defeat at Manchester City – and are unbeaten at home in their last three matches.

The Magpies enjoyed an opening day victory of their own last weekend, as they defeated league new boys Nottingham Forest 2-0.

Manager Eddie Howe has been busy over the summer, signing Matt Targett on a permanent deal from Aston Villa following his loan at St James’ Park last season, while Nick Pope has arrived from relegated Burnley and Sven Botman from Lillie on a five-year deal.

Team news

Graham Potter confirmed that it's as you were for Albion, with no fresh injury concerns. The only absentee will be Jakub Moder, who continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.

"There are no injuries, no problems. We've got the same squad available as we did last weekend."

PL Highlights: Newcastle 2 Albion 1

Albion were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline back in March, when they faced Newcastle at St James’ Park. Ryan Fraser and Fabian Schar’s quickfire goals early in the first half put Albion on the back foot. Lewis Dunk’s header halved the deficit just after the restart, but the Magpies held on for the three points.

Newcastle player to watch

By Paul Hazlewood
Joelinton has found form in the middle of the park for Newcastle.

Having arrived at Newcastle as a striker, Joelinton had struggled to find the back of the net regularly in the Premier League. Howe’s decision to move the Brazilian into midfield though has proved to be an inspired one, with the 25-year-old shining in the middle of the park for the Magpies.

  • Albion have never lost a home Premier League game against Newcastle in five previous meetings (W2 D3), only facing West Ham as often without losing at the Amex Stadium in the competition.

  • Albion are looking to win three consecutive Premier League games for the second time, previously doing so in October 2018. The Seagulls have won six of their last nine league games (D2 L1), picking up victories at Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United in that run.
