Albion goal hero Pascal Gross just can’t stop scoring against Manchester United!

The German’s two goals at Old Trafford takes his tally against the Red Devils to six in the Premier League – and his latest brace was also capped with the man of the match award.

“I don’t know what it is. I would like to score more goals against other teams but it’s always against Manchester United!” he smiled. “You can’t ask for much more than that. Three points away from home against United, in their first home game, so it was a big win for us.

Delight for Pascal and the skipper in the Old Trafford sunshine.

“We played well, the game plan was really good, and we stuck to it. We had our chances and we were clinical for the goals.”

Gross’s first-half double gave the visitors a nice cushion, but United responded after the break and were handed a lifeline on 68 minutes thanks to an Alexis Mac Allister own goal. Yet the Seagulls dug deep to see the game out for a memorable victory.

“It’s always tough at Old Trafford if you get to 2-1 and the last 25 minutes were tough,” Gross admitted. “You have to dig in, you have to defend as a team. There will be difficult moments but I think we performed so well as a unit today.”

It was a second successive win against United, following a 4-0 demolition at the Amex in May, but Gross was hard pressed to single out the better of the two performances.

“They are both nice,” he added. “It always good to win a football game against Manchester United though. It’s a great way to start the season and I’m really happy. It’s only the first three points though and we move forward.”
