Leandro Trossard has conceded it will be tough for Albion to improve on last season’s club record finish, but sees no reason why the club shouldn’t have the ambition to better it.
Last season proved to be a fruitful one for the Belgium international, as he had his best goalscoring return in an Albion shirt.
Scoring eight and assisting three, Leo was involved in some priceless Albion moments, notably scoring the winners at Brentford and Tottenham, as well as finding the back of the net in the draw at Liverpool and victory at Arsenal.

“It’s always special when you play at those sorts of games,” Leo said. “If you can score in front of the Kop as well, it’s a really nice feeling. We didn’t start off well, but after going down 2-0, we got back and we could have even won the game. There you could see what we are capable of as a team. We can win any game and they are one of the biggest teams in Europe, it’s always a hard time when you play against them, but we’re capable of a lot.
“Then we had the run at the end of the season and at this level, it was my best run of form. It started in March with the national team and then I brought that here and I enjoyed every minute of it.
“If you win games it means everyone performed well, we were in a really good moment. We finished it off really well with the Manchester United and West Ham games, there were so many good performances and it gives you a lot of hope for the future.”

The 27-year-old says the men’s team have come a long way since he joined in 2019.
“It will be tough to better last season, we set the standard. Everyone has high hopes, but it’s the Premier League. We’ve come a long way, I think it was a deserved place for us last season. We will aim for the same and if it’s possible, higher. Everyone should have the ambition to aim high and we will see where we end up.”
