Katie Startup joined Albion in 2020.

We’re pleased to announce that women’s team goalkeeper Katie Startup has signed a new contract that runs until June 2023.

The 23-year-old made her Barclays Women’s Super League debut for Albion last season in a 2-0 win over West Ham, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Liverpool.

Head coach Hope Powell said, “Katie returned from her loan last season and proved that she can push Megan Walsh all the way for a place in the team.

“She provides exactly the sort of competition we want, so we’re really pleased that she will be with us going forward.

“Katie is a good character and works hard – I am looking forward to working with her again this season.”

Startup joined from Championship side Charlton Athletic in July 2020.

She was a regular for the Addicks during her three years, going on to play for England at Under-19 level.

Towards the end of her time at The Valley, Startup started wearing the number 40 shirt to raise awareness for mental health charities, which she has carried on with Albion.
