Peter O'Sullivan joined Albion in 1970.

Former player and club legend Peter O’Sullivan is recovering in hospital after collapsing last week and his family have asked our supporters to send him cards and well wishes.

Peter, 71, was on life support following his collapse, but is now recovering slowly.

Speaking to The Argus, his wife Kimberley said, “This [cards and well wishes] will help with his cognitive therapy and keep him busy. I know that this will uplift him.”

Cards can be send to The Argus, 33 Bond Street, Brighton, BN1 1RD and will be passed on.

Supporters can also email The Argus’ Brian Owen with well wishes and memories of Sully’s heydays that will bring a smile to his face, to brian.owen@theargus.co.uk

Peter was a major part of the Albion team that climbed from the third tier to the first during the 1970s.

Popularly known as Sully, he was also known in the Albion dressing room as ‘Rivelino’ due to his close physical resemblance, not to mention playing style, to the Brazilian midfield great.
