Pascal Gross joined Albion from Ingolstadt in 2017.

Pascal Gross says the club’s trust was a big factor in him signing a new contract with us earlier this month.

The German midfielder put pen to paper on a two-year contract, having originally joined in 2017.

That trust from the club and his own pride in what he has achieved with Albion made committing his future a straightforward decision.

“It was quite simple for me because the club has a lot of trust in me, I have been here a long time. I enjoy playing at the Amex with our fans, I like the group of players we have, I like the way we are improving,” Pascal said.

Pascal Gross: Trust behind new deal

“My family likes the city, so the package is for me. I have been here five years and going into my sixth, which I am proud of, that was all part of my thinking.

“It’s crazy to have been here five years now. Coming from Germany to England, you never know how it’s going to go. Playing five years in the Premier League, I’ve been here a long time and I really feel at home. My family and I really enjoy our life here.”

We got to see some of Pascal’s finest performances in an Albion shirt towards the end of last season, including the 4-0 win over Manchester United when he scored our third goal of the afternoon.

“I always used to say my favourite Brighton moment was our 1-0 win over Manchester United to keep us in the league [in the 2017/18 campaign], but now it’s the 4-0 win over United.

“It’s the biggest moment since I’ve been here, the atmosphere was incredible and the way we played against such a big team, it made it a really special day for us as a football club.

“My goal was a really good team goal, I enjoyed the one against West Ham on the last day as well! But technically the way we played out from Rob [Sanchez] to Marc [Cucurella] and Leandro [Trossard], it was a really special goal.”
