The skipper celebrates a famous win at the Amex.

Albion skipper Lewis Dunk was delighted to give Albion fans an Amex evening to remember after they thrashed Manchester United 4-0.

It was only their fourth home win of the season and first since the 2-0 success over Brentford on Boxing Day.

After goals from Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard sealed Albion’s best top-flight win, Dunk paid tribute to their supporters.

“We owed the fans at home a big win like that,” he said. “Our away form has been amazing, but the season ticket holders and supporters who come down to the Amex have had to put up with some not so good performances.

PL Highlights: Albion 4 Man United 0

“If we’re not pleased with how we play, then they’re definitely not going to be and that’s happened more often than we would like. It’s great to reward them with a 4-0 win over Manchester United. They deserved that moment and we’re delighted to give it to them.

“From the first moment to the last we were the better team, Rob [Sanchez] made a couple of good saves for us to keep a clean sheet. That’s two in a row, so that was nice. But on the ball, that was probably some of the best stuff we have played all year.

“In the last two games we have scored three and four, and as a centre-back it’s weird to get to the end of the game and not be having to head balls out of the box to secure a win. Hopefully we can carry that on for the final two games.”

Dunk was thrilled for defensive colleague Cucurella who enjoyed an emotional celebration after scoring his first Albion goal.

Cucurella: Dunky shouts at me a lot!

“He’s incredible. He’s still young and is so consistent. He’s been a pleasure to play alongside this season. He’s adapted positionally as well and he deserved that moment.”

Dunk wants Albion to finish the season strongly in their final two games against Leeds United and West Ham.

“We’re in a good place. We want to keep the squad together, try and improve it in the summer. We have shown every year in the Premier League that we have improved. This season we have stuck together through the tough times and we’ve come out the other side.”
