Graham Potter hailed a ‘fantastic performance and amazing result’ after Albion thrashed Manchester United 4-0 at the Amex to record their best Premier League win.

Goals from Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard thrilled a record Amex crowd as Albion moved to 47 points in ninth place.

“It was one the great days,” said Potter. “We’ve had a bit of pain in front of our own supporters this season so we owed them one – it was a fantastic performance and an amazing result.

“In an ideal world you want to get most of your points in front of your own supporters because it makes things feel better, so it was nice to give them a memory like that - we’re delighted.

“We played well from the start and the boys did everything we asked them to do. We pressed well, defended well and created some good chances. We were brave on the ball.”

Caicedo and Cucurella’s goal were their first for the club and showcased Albion’s excellent recruitment.

“Moises has got the ability to do that, it was a great finish and he’s been amazing since he came into the team while Marc has played at a very high level all season.

“Good recruitment is a collective thing. It’s important we bring in the right characters with the correct attitude and it’s a huge credit to everyone at the club. It starts from the top with the chairman.

“I’m so pleased for the players. If you’ve got a good group like we have there’s always the chance to turn results around and that’s what we’ve done in the last few weeks.”
