Adam Webster hopes to play a big part in Albion’s run-in after returning to the starting line-up against Southampton.

The defender started his first game since 15 February when he played for an hour in Sunday’s 2-2 draw after recovering from a groin injury.

“It was great to back out there, especially at the Amex in front of our fans,” he said. “I had 60 minutes and I was happy with that. I could probably have played 90 but it was the sensible thing to do and moving forward it will help me.

“We have got four games left and we want to get as close to 12 points as we can and make a bit of history for the club, and break into the top ten.

“We will have to win some of those games if we want to do that and personally I want to play in as many of them as possible.”

Webster was frustrated that Albion couldn’t hold on after leading 2-0 against Southampton.

“We started really well and got a 2-0 lead but their goal just before half-time was a sucker punch and gave them a leg up.

“They carried it into the second half and the first 20 minutes were tough. Then we came back into it and looked like the team who were going to win at the end. But when you’re 2-0 up you should win the game.

“We could have kept the ball better in the second half. I was guilty of it for the second goal. There seemed to be two or three turnovers then I’ve tried to feed the ball through, they have won it back and scored. It was a bit like Manchester City last Wednesday when we didn’t keep the ball well enough and against any side in the Premier League you get punished if you don’t do that.”

Albion head to Molineux on Saturday looking to avenge the 1-0 defeat they suffered against Wolves back in December.

“Wolves are always a tough opponent,” added Webster. “They are so solid and have such a good shape. They make it difficult for teams who like to have possession of the ball like us. We’ll be looking for a reaction to Southampton and hopefully we can go there and continue our good away form.”
