Andrew Crofts' under-23s are ninth in PL2.

Andrew Crofts is hoping his side can continue their impressive home form when they host Derby County in Premier League 2 on Monday, kick-off 7pm.

The Rams visit the American Express Community Stadium hoping to inflict just Albion's second home defeat of the season.

Albion’s six wins on home soil include an impressive 4-2 victory last time out against Everton, in which Jack Spong was the star of the show with two goals, and a thumping 4-1 win over Blackburn when they last played at the Amex back in September.

“Our home form this season has been excellent.” said Crofts. “To play ten games and only suffer one close defeat – it’s been a really strong effort.

“I hope teams find us a hard place to visit, and the Amex on Monday will only add to that. What an arena to play football in.

“We had a taste of it against Blackburn at the start of the season and performed really well. Hopefully we can have a repeat of that.

“The group is really excited about heading down there and hopefully playing in front of a good crowd.

“I know what a special place the Amex is to play and the lads are looking forward to it.”

Despite Albion’s strong record at home, they have suffered when playing away in recent weeks, losing 2-0 at Crystal Palace and 3-2 at West Ham either side of that resounding win against the Toffees last month.

However, against Palace and the Hammers, Crofts’ side were unlucky to lose and the head coach has taken positives from both defeats.

“Against Palace, we put in an excellent performance.” said Crofts, “I felt we deserved a win. I also felt we controlled large spells against West Ham, especially in the second half, and were deserving of at least a point.

“We can learn from both games, and even the Everton win, in different ways. I’m really looking forward to the game on Monday to see if we can build on our level of performance even further.”

Tickets for Monday’s match at the Amex are free to men’s first-team season ticket holders, and Crofts is ready for a tough match in front of what he hopes will be a good crowd.

The head coach said, “Every game in this league is difficult and Derby will be no difficult.

“It will be a tough match. They’ve got good players and good coaches. We’re under no illusions that we need to approach it in the right way.

“We’re excited for another challenge and a night at the Amex. It’s always nice when you’ve got a crowd behind you, so we’re looking forward to it.”
