Lewis Dunk played alongside Gordon Greer up until the Scotsman's departure in 2016.

Lewis Dunk believes he’s had some great captains to learn from and is still picking up things from teammates currently in the Albion dressing room.

Having taken over as skipper from Bruno in 2019, Dunk has captained Albion to a club record points tally in the Premier League (41) and the academy graduate says he’s taken something from all the different leaders he’s seen during his time at the club.

“I’ve had great captains over my career to learn off and none of them are the same. I’ve had the likes of GG (Gordon Greer) and Bruno, everyone is different and I am different to them.

The 30-year-old took over the captaincy following Bruno's retirement.

“We all have our own strengths and weaknesses. But I am not the only leader in this dressing room, we’ve got lads who have got unbelievable experiences and we have that to draw on. We all learn off each other.

“Now we’ve got someone who is just as worthy of being captain in Adam Lallana. Why would you not want to learn from someone like that? I try and do that everyday. He’s played at the very top of the game, he’s won the Premier League, the Champions League.

“He’s amazing with the young players and they’re lucky to be able to learn from him. He’s great to have in the dressing room.”

The 30-year-old has to lean on what he has learned in recent weeks with Albion on a six-game losing run, which they will look to bring to an end against Norwich City this Saturday.

Lewis Dunk has captained Albion since the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign.

“It’s been a difficult period, everyone has had their own disappointments during it, but I’ve got to be the leader in the group. People need to see me step up and lead by example.

“I’ve just come back from injury and that’s been tough for me to hit the ground running and find some form. It’s been disappointing personally, but we’ve got to focus on getting back to a positive mindset.”
