Albion trio get under-21 call-up

Tariq Lamptey, Carl Rushworth and Ed Turns selected for international duty.

Tariq Lamptey has been called up by England under-21s.

Tariq Lamptey and Carl Rushworth have been included in the England under-21 squad for two European Championship qualifiers at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, defender Ed Turns has been selected by Wales at under-21 level for the first time for their forthcoming Euro qualifiers.

Lamptey made his debut at under-21 level in September 2020 against Austria in a 2-1 win, having previously been capped at under-18, 19 and 20 age groups. 

Having recovered from a hamstring injury, the 21-year-old has made 24 first-team appearances this season.

Rushworth has spent the season on loan with League 2 Walsall, making 39 starts in all competitions.

The 20-year-old was called up as cover for the under-21s last October and been in England squads before at under-19 and under-20 level.

England play Andorra at Bournemouth next Friday before travelling to Elbasan to face Albania four days later. 

Turns, 19, has been a regular in Albion's Premier League 2 side this season and made his first-team debut against Swansea City in the Carabao Cup last September.

He has been called up for Wales' qualifiers against Switzerland and Bulgaria. 

Goalkeeper James Beadle and defender Zac Sturge have been called into England's under-18 squad for friendlies in Marbella against Spain on March 25 and Denmark three days later.
