Albion had a busy final day of the January transfer window as the club bolstered their ranks across the age groups.
Striker Deniz Undav signed from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on a contract until 2026 but will remain with the Belgium league leaders until the end of the campaign.
He was joined earlier on in the window by Albion’s other new signing Kacper Kozlowski. The 18-year-old Poland international joined from Pogon Szczecin and will continue his development with Union.
While not a new signing, Moises Caicedo was recalled from his loan with Belgian club Beerschot and Billy Arce completed his loan with Ecuadorian side Quito and has returned to Sussex.
Albion said farewell to a couple of familiar faces with Dan Burn moving to boyhood club Newcastle United after making 85 appearances for the club. Academy graduate Christian Walton signed a permanent deal with Ipswich Town while Jurgen Locadia completed a move to German side Bochum.
A few younger players who are on the periphery of the first-team picture headed out on loan, with Aaron Connolly joining Middlesbrough, Taylor Richards going to Birmingham City, Kjell Scherpen to Oostende while Leo Ostigard linked up with Genoa.
Albion’s under-23s welcomed Benicio Baker-Boaitey from Porto on loan with a view to a permanent move and defender Lars Dendoncker returned from his loan with St Johnstone.
A couple of members of Andrew Crofts’ squad went out on loan. Lorent Tolaj joined League One Cambridge United for the rest of the season, teaming up with midfielder Jensen Weir at The Abbey Stadium, and goalkeeper Adam Debois moved to Non-League Leatherhead.
Academy graduate Ryan Longman’s time with Albion came to an end on deadline day, as he signed a permanent deal with Hull City, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan with the Tigers.
Casey Shann arrived from Sutton United and Billie Clark from Whitehawk to bolster the under-18 squad.
Billie is the first player to join Albion from Whitehawk since 1991, when Stuart Tuck joined as a 16-year-old trainee. ‘Tucky’ is now Whitehawk’s assistant manager.
He is also the first Whitehawk player to sign for a top-flight club since Derek Tharme joined Spurs in 1956, aged 16.
Goalkeeper Fynn Talley headed out on loan for the rest of the season to Southern League Gosport Borough with Killian Cahill joining Albion from Shamrock Rovers.
