Brighton & Hove Albion are showing their support for Holocaust Memorial Day.

Holocaust Memorial Day is held every year on 27th January, marking the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp in World War Two.

Seventy seven years on from the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Albion proudly stand against antisemitism. The club, alongside the Premier League, adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism in December 2020.

At the time, chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber explained, “The adoption of this definition will assist us in the training and education of our staff and stewards and will provide everyone at the club and our fans with a deeper understanding and education of appropriate language used in the stadium, online and in the community.

"Brighton & Hove Albion have a clear zero tolerance policy on all forms of discrimination, including antisemitism, and the club is grateful for the support of its local Jewish community in Brighton throughout its history. We continue to value our close links to the local community and Jewish fan base."

Albion’s under-23s and under-18s also held a minute’s silence before training on Thursday morning to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

A short passage was read, while a photo was held of Jozsef Braun, a Hungarian footballer who was killed in the Holocaust.
