Graham Potter hailed a ‘really strong performance’ after watching Albion draw 1-1 at Chelsea.

Danny Welbeck got a deserved equaliser in stoppage time as Albion climbed to tenth in the Premier League table.

A delighted Potter said, “To equalise when we did is a great feeling and I thought the performance was really strong.

“Throughout the game we asked some questions of Chelsea. They’ve got some top players but I thought we more than matched them and we put a lot into it. It’s nice for the boys to get something.

Danny Welbeck scored his second goal of the campaign in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

“We fought all the way until the end and you could tell by the crowd they weren’t so comfortable. When you come here you need a little bit of luck and they had a couple of opportunities to make it 2-0, but we defended well and while it’s 1-0 anything can happen.

“Chelsea are a top side who are Champions League winners and are chasing the title. So you know when you come here you’ve got to be really good and our players gave everything, showed spirit and courage and I am really proud of them.”

Welbeck came off the bench to score his second goal of the season.

“Danny is fit and he’s firing and getting him fit is important for us,” added Potter. “The more fit players we have the better and Danny is one of those, it was a really good header for the goal.”
