Graham Potter says Danny Welbeck is ‘looking better than ever’ as the striker prepares to return against Brentford on Boxing Day.
The 31-year-old former England forward hasn’t played since injuring his hamstring against Crystal Palace three months ago which subsequently required surgery.
But Welbeck, who has scored 51 top-flight goals in 252 appearances, is raring to go, according to Potter.
“Danny has had surgery on his other hamstring previously and has never had a problem with that since, I think he feels the same with this one.
“Since he has been back he has looked better than ever, he looks sharper and faster. I don't have any concerns and I think Danny is the same.
“He went through a period when the injury was reoccurring, and I think surgery has fixed that for him.
“And because he had the other one done and never had a problem I think that puts him in a better place psychologically.

“Danny is a player that can make the difference – it’s as simple as that. He doesn’t win a game of football on his own - I’m sure he will be the first to tell you that - but he has quality.
“He is one of our best players, he has fantastic experience, and I think it is common knowledge that when Danny is fit and enjoying his football he is a huge asset to the team.”
